Top Archivist Headlines Conferences

Archivist of the United States Allen Weinstein, who oversees the National Archives and Records Administration, is getting around the genealogy circuit of late: He’s the featured speaker at both the National Genealogical Society (NGS) 2006 Conference in the States, set for June 7-10 in Chicago, and the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) annual conference, Aug. 13-18 in New York City.

Weinstein, the son of Russian immigrants, has authored a long list of books; served as professor at universities including Brown, Columbia and Georgetown; and led organizations such as the International Foundation for Election Systems. Both conferences feature classes, exhibitors and special events. NGS conference <www.eshow2000.com/ngs> attendance costs $245 for all three days ($210 for members) or $95 for one day; admission to just the exhibit hall is free.
